Bank of Baroda organizes “Baroda Kisan Pakhwada” in Palghar District

Bank of Baroda has observed Nationwide Baroda Kisan Pakhwada from 1st of October till 15th of October 2020 and Baroda-Kisan Diwas on 16th October 2020. The main objective of the campaign is to reach out to the farmers, listening and addressing various problems faced by them, felicitate them for their contribution in food production and to maintain a healthy relationship. Bank is continuing this legacy for the 3rd time with same energy and enthusiasm as shown in previous two celebrations of Baroda Kisan Pakhwada/ Baroda Kisan Diwas. However, this year the situation is very different from the previous years due to Covid-19 pandemic. 

Bank of Baroda is the Bank with largest Branch Network in the district of Palghar. All rural and semi-urban branches of Mumbai Metro North Region had planned for the event well in advance. Accordingly, Financial Literacy Camps were organized by branch staff in the villages and also in branch premises for farmers and rural women Self Help Groups. The branch staff had visited various Dairy farmers in the villages and explained them about the new scheme of Baroda Animal Husbandry Kisan Credit Card. Further, the branches located on the coastal belt had approached the Macchimar Society for explaining the Baroda Fishery Kisan Credit Card. Bank of Baroda has also excelled in financing Self Help Groups. All branches had conducted meetings of SHGs to make them aware of the Banking Products. One of the branch has also distributed BHIM UPI QR Codes to dairy farmers for collection of their payments from door to door sale of milk. A meeting of two Farmer Producer Companies was also conducted in Mokhada taluka to explain Bank of Baroda’s scheme for FPCs.

Free Livestock vaccination programme was conducted on 12.10.2020 in the village by our Palghar branch. On 13th October, an online event was organized in co-ordination with the Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kosbad, Dahanu. The event was addressed by Dr. Vilas Jadhav, Head, Senior Scientist, KVK, Kosbad who spoke on emerging opportunities in Agriculture and Shri. Bharat Kushare, Scientist, KVK Kosbad spoke on Rabi Crop Management. The event was extremely helpful for the farmers. Various queries raised by the farmers were resolved by the Scientists. 

Another event was organized on 14th October online which was addressed by Mrs. Ujwala Kokane, Financial Literacy Cell Incharge, Lead Bank, Bank of Maharashtra on Financial Literacy and Social Security Schemes, Shri. Kishor Padghan on various schemes of NABARD, Farmer Producer Company and Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and Shri. Kashinath Tarakase, District Superintendent of Agriculture for Palghar district on various Central and State Government schemes on Agriculture. He also enlightened the various initiatives taken by their department in the district of Palghar.

During the campaign period more than 2 Crores of loans were sanctioned under various schemes of Agriculture by the branches of Palghar district. The campaign has served the purpose to reach out to the farmers. Several farmers got benefitted from the campaign. Bank of Baroda wish to emerge as the preferred bank for all types of Agriculture Loans in the district of Palghar.
